Explanation of Fees

Course Fees

Course fees are charged either at a cost-per-credit or a flat quarterly rate.

Registration Fee

Students pay a registration fee of $55 every quarter they register. The registration fee covers administrative processes. It's nonrefundable unless you withdraw from all your courses by the 100% refund deadline. For refund dates, see the Academic Calendar for your year of study.

Service & Activities Fee

The service and activities fee funds student activities and programs. It ranges from $53 to $265 (2023-24) per quarter, depending on your credit load.

Technology Fee

Students enrolled in credit courses pay a technology fee, which provides funds for the improvement of technology used by students at UW campuses. It supports resources such as computer labs, software and cloud storage.

The technology fee is based on the number of credits you are registered for and ranges from $4 to $22 (2023-24) per quarter. You’re assessed the technology fee whether or not the course you’re taking uses technology resources.

U-PASS

A quarterly U-PASS fee ($92) is charged to all UW degree and graduate certificate students.
